Howdy, Fritz--

Thanks so much for the repeat of the Trilby Lundberg piece. I missed it the first time around. I've long been miffed that NPR treats her as the sole authority on the economics of gasoline. It's shoddy journalism to simply trot out the same tired experts to sum up the news. And while NPR producers are careful to use only her most objective analysis, I've long felt there was something more insidious lurking behind her policy interpretations.

I'm always amazed at the number of ways people can define the concept of freedom. They stomp on the accelerator, they feel all the bonds slip away, and they believe that is freedom. Actually, it's just exhilaration. It's an easy mistake to make, confusing exhilaration and freedom. It's much like mistaking orgasm for love.

Thanks also for the photo of Trilby at the wheel of her Benz. She is the rolling embodiment of excess comnsumption.
