Vuelta a Murcia
It’s early Spring, which means bike races in obscure European towns with miserable weather. This week it’s a five stage race around Murcia, Spain, and the weather has actually been fairly nice. There comes a point in whatever city or town you cycle in that you get a little sick of riding in traffic. A taxi or a bus cuts into your path and you just think I want to get away! At some point I stopped just saying it and decided to find great locations to cycle in London. I wanted to find places where I would be the only user of the road. Or even better not be on a road! In my search I’ve found some incredible routes. I’ve fallen over in the mud in the middle of a random forest. I’ve discovering things I never knew about my city and I’ve enjoyed my bike the way I think it is meant to be enjoyed.

Today reminds me that Thursday Bicycles wasn’t at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show last weekend. Jon Norstag of Thursday Bicycles in Idaho specializes in bomb proof steel frames designed and built for downhill and cross country riding, but what I especially like is his Mutton Master sheep herding and utility bike.
We already know Ryan Leech does amazing trick riding on his trials bike, but who knew Ryan also rides what looks like a pretty sweet commuter rig — what he calls his “errand bike” — to get around city streets in Vancouver? Read the rest of this entry »
