Cargo Bike Power

I walked across the street in my town when I bumped into Josh Hart — he of those marvelous orange bike pants and Fell Street Arco protests.

Since his return from the University of West England last year (via cargo freighter!), he’s gotten around on borrowed secondhand bikes, so he was happy to show me his new baby “Artemis” — a gorgeous, hand built touring bike by Santa Cruz builder Josh Muir.

Josh writes more about Artemis at his most recent blog post. He also wrote up “Cargo Bike Power” for MAKE Magazine. Unlike the typical quick overview of cargo bikes you might see in blogs, Josh interviewed the innovators and relative newcomers, going into detail on the design and use of cargo bikes in the United States. It’s a good read.
