San Francisco Bike Expo 2010

The San Francisco Bike Expo 2010 takes place tomorrow Saturday November 6 2010 10 AM to 5 PM at the Cow Palace in Daly City, California.

This thing that started three years ago as a swap meet has expanded into an event with a nice trade show, an insane “monster” cyclocross race, BMX competition, pump track, fashion show and, of course, the swap meet of old bikes and parts. This thing is huge this year, so I suggest looking at the schedule of events to figure out what you want to see and do. Tickets are $12 at the door (more for event registration if, for example, you’re racing or vending). Entrance is FREE if you join or renew your membership with the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition.

Directions, Parking, Transit, Bikes

Cow Palace parking is $8; I don’t remember much (if any) street parking nearby.

If you take public transportation, the nearest BART station is Balboa. It’s about 2 miles from BART to the Cow Palace. Click here for Google Maps directions.

The other option is Caltrain Bayshore station. Google Maps from Bayshore Caltrain to the Cow Palace. San Jose Bike Party have a Facebook event page for a group Caltrain ride from San Jose.

The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition will provide secure bicycle parking; bring cash for a tip, please.

Features

The Pedal Savvy bike fashion show has two showings: the first at 12:30 PM and another at 6 PM. There’s also a bike ride to the after party that night in SF.

My pal Kit will be there with a Zero Per Gallon Booth and a special ‘fixed gear’ edition of his popular 53 Miles Per Burrito Shirt. Like all things hip, this shirt’s design is naturally a collaborative project. Find him at booth 167.

Halloween Race Goodies

Run to Timbuk2’s booth — the first 70 visitors will receive a free custom top tube pad, with any donations going to Worldbike. You can also buy some of their more popular bags for only $40 (what a bargain!), including select Classic Messengers, Hemlocks and Classic Messenger flag bags, including the Rasta, Italy, Brazil and U.S.A. You can also watch the Timbuk2 sewing machine in action and the iconic “Death Trap” in motion.

Mark will serve up plenty of fresh brew from his Kinetic Koffee kiosk, so be sure to hit him up. He’ll likely have artwork and energy bars as well.

The Bicycle Muse is here all the way from London with their Yakkay Helmets and other vintage styled bike accessories.
