Utility bikes and election posters

I’m pretty sure the first part of the caption provided with this photo is incorrect. It says, “Men ride their bicycles past election campaign posters at Ipanema beach in Rio de Janeiro September 30, 2010. Brazil will hold general elections on October 3.

It looks to me like the posters are on on the bikes (or rather, the trikes). Still, those utili-trikes look like they can carry a load.

  1. I actually saw a similar sign placement – on a converted Burley trailer – in Oakland at Jack London Square a few months back. Advertising for Lofts if I remember correctly.

What a gig – pedaling around being a billboard. Beats the crazy sign-throwing folks you see on corners so often these days.

  3. These trikes were used in some cities in this electoral campaign also here in my city: Curitiba. But, past the elections you will never see it again! These trikes have a huge capacity for cargo, but it still useless for the small shops. We don’t have the bicycle culture.
