Vuelta and the Bunnyhop

“Vuelta & the Bunnyhop” is not a lame name for a punk band – it’s what happened today at the finish of today’s Stage 13 in La Vuelta a España. The Vuelta Espana continues through September 19.

SPOILER BELOW.

Universal Sports won’t allow an embed of this video of Mark Cavendish doing a bunnyhop over the finish line as he takes his second stage win of the 2010 Vuelta España in a bunch sprint today.

After riding 195km, Cavendish cranked out enough power over the final kilometer to propel himself to over 40 MPH to win the stage. He probably has tunnel vision and sees spots swimming in his field of vision, and he still has energy to do a bunnyhop and flash a smile for the photographers.

The sprint starts at about 1:25 in the video: Mark Cavendish wins with bunny hop at Vuelta.
