Brian Willson in Santa Cruz

Join Veterans for Peace founder Brian Willson on a bike ride from The Hub in Santa Cruz to his book reading in Capitola on Wednesday, July 19, 2011.

Vietnam Veteran S. Brian Willson is a long time peace activist who lost his legs after he was run over by a train at a weapons protest at the Concord Naval Weapons Station. He’s traveling down the west coast on his hand cycle to promote his latest book, Blood On The Tracks.

Portland resident Brian Willson is a war vet and anti-war activist who lost both legs in 1987.

You can meet Willson Friday evening on a bike ride from The Santa Cruz Hub at the corner of Pacific Ave and Spruce (a block south of Laurel). Meet in Santa Cruz at 6 PM for the ride to Capitola Book Cafe (1475 41st Ave), where Willson will speak about his book beginning at 7:30 PM.

Willson hails from Arcata, California, but now makes his home in Portland, Oregon, where he demonstrates sustainable living. Jonathan @ BikePortland talked with Willson before his book tour and asked about his handcycle book tour.
