Tucson cyclist in store shooting

U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) is in critical condition after a shooting in front of a Tuscon grocery store in which at least six people lost their lives, according to news reports.

The 40 year old Tucson native is an avid cyclist who can be seen cycling around Tucson on her custom bike. She also bikes to her Congressional office from her Washington DC home.

  1. Wow, Mark. Let’s not overreact here.

Thanks for posting this. I didn’t know anything of her cycling advocacy, but from what I can tell, she seems to be exactly what one would want in a representative. Let’s hope she makes it through and has a complete recovery.

  2. I’m not over-reacting. This site is just trying to grab traffic by capitalizing on a tragedy. On top of that, (1) they can’t spell the city right (it’s still not fixed), and (2), Curtis is correct: Rep. Giffords rode motorcycles.

    it’s disgusting.

  3. @Mark, I pay attention to our cycling lawmakers. When I heard the news
about Gifforda, it was like a kick in the teeth. I assure you this post was
not an attempt to capitalize on that tragedy.

I can only apologize about the spelling of Tucson. I honestly do know how
to spell it, and I’m enough of a language nerd I looked up the etymology
once. I don’t know what got into me to cause me to misspell it. I haven’t
corrected it yet in the post because I’ve yet to touch a computer since
Saturday morning. Even now I’m composing this on phone while sitting on a
    train.

  4. Hey Mark just as a reality check, I have been blogging for a year or so but I’ve been managing and writing web sites for 10 years or longer. If I have a dime for every misspelled word, or run on sentence, or grammatical error I have made, I’d retire. A congresswoman was hurt in a violent act, she happens to also be an “avid cyclist”, so it makes sense that this topic was posted here. And mispled wordz happen. The good news is her doctors are saying she will recover. Sadly, others were not so fortunate.
