A teenage Keanu Reeves plays a road bike racer in this 1980 Coca Cola commercial.
Is that Belov at the finish line with him?
Via Janeen McCrae.
This ad, which features a dad coaching and encouraging his son, reminds me of this novel by Marin County psychologist Ross Goldstein. It’s the story of a pro cyclist who gets sick of the drug scandals and quits until his dad encourages him to take up the sport again. I’ve read the story and it’s a good read; I’ll post up a bigger review soon. In the meantime, you can learn more at the author’s web site.
Update: I see now that Bike Hugger posted on this nearly two weeks ago.
Is that a Canadian ad? I thought i heard them mention that, seeing that he is Canadian. I would think so.
Oh yeah. and I see Canadian maple leafs on the jerseys.
woah … thats some of his best work….
Love the finish line tape. It’s those little touches that add authenticity.
