Public School bicycle

Public School NYC (a young fashion designer, not the education system), picked New York’s iconic yellow cab livery for their Fashion Week 2011 bike design.

Public School NYC Fashion Week Bicycle

Says Public School:

Nothing is more iconic than a NYC Yellow Cab! Especially when you’re late for a meeting or a project. Which was particularly relevant in this case; the paint was literally drying when we wheeled our bike out for the launch of Tour de Fashion. Public School was one of 30 designers to participate in the custom bike project and guess where we took inspiration from? All the countless times we couldn’t catch a cab during the hectic 10 days that is NYC Fashion Week. The bikes can be rented during the week in the fashion and meat packing districts. They’ll be auctioned after the week is done and the funds will come back to the CFDA Incubator.

  1. as an nyc resident (but bay area resident at heart), there’s been so many times where i’ve had to take a cab in the city and thought it would be so much better if i just had my bike instead. although the fear of getting it stolen still trumps those wishes.
