Custom bicycles and cycling apparel will be animated and celebrated together on stage on Saturday, April 9 during the Fashion Showcase.

“Across the country, the DIY movement is full of vitality,” says B. Spoke Tailor’s Nan Eastep, coordinator and stylist for the Fashion Showcase. “Custom bicycles and handmade clothing are a part of this phenomenon. The quest for healthy lifestyle and reduced carbon footprint is leading more people to take up cycling, and increased environmental awareness feeds the trend to buy local- whether it’s food, clothing or bicycles. Buying local builds community and nurtures the continuation of artisan knowledge and skills.”

The Fashion Showcase at the San Diego Custom Bicycle Show will feature the latest designs in tweed, lycra, wool and cotton. Models will strut the runway alongside the finest custom bicycles accessorized with domestically made bike lights, bags and panniers.

Sponsors include B. Spoke Tailor of Oakland, CA; Light and Motion of Monterey, CA; Earth Wind and Rider of Amherst, MA; alloneword of Alameda, CA; Terry Precision Cycling of Burlington, VT; Primal of Denver, CO; Hjeltness Panniers of Escondido, CA; SockGuy of Carlsbad, CA and more.
