Christmas bikes

Turning Wheels for Kids (TWFK) donates thousands of brand new bicycles to children at Christmas time. In the six short years since a local nurse’s vision of giving an exciting gift to need children became reality, TWFK has become a Silicon Valley tradition.

Last weekend, hundreds of volunteers gathered at the San Jose Convention Center to build up 2,700 bikes in four hours. Erik was there to take photos and build bikes and reports on his experience.

Raleigh USA is one of the major sponsors, and from Erik’s photos it looks like they provided most (all?) of the bikes. TWFK accepts donations throughout the year.

  1. We do Toys for Tots here at the jobsite I’m at. This year, along with 4000 toys and $10k raised, donations were made to purchase 500 bikes for the program. I’m quite impressed.
