Colnago Disc Road Bike

Everybody is talking about this Colnago C59 road bike with disc brakes.

Colnago C59 Disc Brake Road Bicycle

Just announced at the Tapei Bike Show. More details about the C59 Disc at Colnago.com. It’s a hot looking number.

Some people are skeptical of the application of hydraulic disc brakes on a road bike. Disc brakes means you can design rims without a braking surface, which means less rotational mass and faster wheels. Much more about this at Road.CC and Bike Rumor.

It was only a matter of time.  It will be interesting to see if this takes off or not.  I love disk brakes on a mountain bike and I’d love to try it out on a road bike.

I think it *will* take off, and we’ll see it in the pro races the minute UCI approves.
