False Alarm

An alert went out this week for a road cyclist who apparently disappeared somewhere in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Last Friday, this individual went for a road ride from Boulder Creek, CA, up Highway 9 and up Highway 236 into the Big Basin State Park area in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Locals know this is a windy, twisty mountain road with sharp turns and steep dropoffs at the road edge.

When this road cyclist didn’t return home, his friends became concerned and thought he might have been run off of the road, or maybe misjudged a turn and flew off of a cliff. Over this past week, a number of individuals went up and down Highway 9 and a few side roads looking for a wrecked bicycle.

It turns out this guy went to visit another family member and didn’t tell anybody about it. All safe.
