American bike culture in… Saigon?

This video highlights the beauty of Ho Chi Minh City Saigon as a handful of guys ride their shorty bar fixed gear bikes through a sea of motor scooters.

Vietnamese people make up 11% of the population of San Jose, California, and they seem to dominate the fixed gear culture here. The Vietnamese have given us Rooster Sauce, Pho and Bahn Mi, so perhaps it should be no surprise to see they’ve exported American cultural influences to their cousins in the Socialist Republic. They have a boutique fixed gear shop, where sell used fixed gear bike imported from Thailand for the local equivalent of about US$500, with prices skyrocketing up from there into the thousands of dollars. They post their events and photos to Facebook.
