Another Santa Cruz County hit and run

Gorgeous weekend weather along the California coast meant hordes of cyclists and motorists sharing the road in Santa Cruz County. A pair of cyclists riding on Soquel-San Jose Road in the Santa Cruz Mountains were clipped by a black Audi on Saturday afternoon.

The driver of the Audi apparently passed and crowded the cyclists off of the road. The two cyclists were flown to Santa Clara Valley Hospital with moderate injuries. More on this at The Santa Cruz Sentinel.

This follows another hit and run late Thursday night or early Friday morning that killed an unidentified cyclists on Highway 1 north of Wilder Ranch. The suspect vehicle in that case is a green 1999/2000 sedan or small SUV with front end damage.

At least five other cyclist hit & run crashes were reported to the California Highway Patrol over the weekend near Templeton, Redding, Westminster, Arrowhead, and Templeton again. Hit and runs seems to be the theme in this morning’s news roundup at Streetsblog SF, too.

Keep your POV ride cameras rolling, folks.
