Check it out: This 8 speed (SRAM X-3 derailleur) 35 lb bike with integrated rear rack retails for $999. “Love handles” on the rear rack are handholds for passengers or tie downs for larger cargo loads.

Accessories designed specifically for the Boda Boda include bamboo running boards, the “Baguette” cargo bag, and a center stand.

Yuba says most accessories designed for their original Yuba Bike will also fit on the Boda Boda. These include a child carrier, a padded cushion for the cargo rack, and bars for a rear passenger.

While the Boda Boda isn’t designed for the huge cargo capacities that the original Yuba is capable of, here’s Yuba founder Ben Sarrazin taking his paddleboard to the Marina in Sausalito, California.

The Boda Boda 48″ wheelbase means it just exceeds the 44 inch limit on many bus bike racks, but you might still get it to fit. I know the 2.6″ tires on the Urbana bicycle exceed the 2.3″ width limit on my local bus provider, but I still manage to jam them into the bus bike rack. This bike certainly fits within Caltrain’s 80 inch limit, and likely other transit providers with roll-on bike service such as BART and Amtrak Capitol Corridor.

  1. I’m not usually a safety ninny, but that part kind of freaked me out too. One of my toes was sewn back on after I nearly lost it in a bike chain mishap when I was about 7 years old.

  2. I have noticed that many/most of Yuba’s promotional photos are of casual riders sans helmets and often with flipflops, or in this case, barefoot.  I think the cycling culture they are promoting has a more worldly perspective instead of how the US thinks cyclists should be outfitted.
That said, I won’t let my kids ride on the back of my Yuba Mundo without closed-toe footwear.  My son has jammed his foot between the frame and the tire before.
