Kick off bike week tonight at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History for a bike-themed First Friday party.

Santa Cruz bike week

Bike to First Friday for free valet bike parking at this free event at 705 Front Street, Santa Cruz, CA. Museum director Nina Simon is, incidentally, a bona fide bike person and she’s a recipient of the 2013 NEXTies award, which honors those individuals who make marked improvements to the city of Santa Cruz.

Wait, there’s more!

Saturday, May 4: Free bike commuting workshop and group ride, 10 AM to 1 PM at the Bicycle Trip bike shop, 1001 Soquel Avenue, Santa Cruz.

Tuesday, May 7: Drop by Staff of Life with your bicycle from 7 AM to 10 AM for free pastries, juice & coffee.

Wednesday, May 8: Bike to Penny Ice Creamery (913 Cedar Street & 820 41st Avenue) for a free frozen treat. Spokesman Bicycles will also offer free bicycle maintenance at the Downtown Farmers’ Market from 12 PM to 4 PM.
