Equestrian drive through service denied

You know how cyclists are often denied service at drive-through windows because of vague insurance rules?

Somebody tried it with a horse in Manchester, England. The rider wasn’t allowed to order from the drive-through window.

McDonald’s drive-thru policy is clear, the company’s spokeswoman clarified, with restaurants “unable to serve pedestrians, bicycle riders or customers on horseback”.

The woman then led the animal inside, where it “ended up doing his business on the floor”, a Greater Manchester Police spokesman said.

If the rider can’t use the drive through, I’m not sure what McDonald’s expected her to do. More at the BBC: Horse in McDonald’s: Rider fined after ‘drive-thru’ refusal.

The Register points out that “tanks, improbably long missile transportation trailers and giant dumper trucks” qualify as “motor vehicles,” which are allowed in McDonald’s drive-through policy, and invites readers to submit videos of themselves ordering their Big Mac from such conveyances.
