Guide dog saves handler from scofflaw driver

Guide Dogs for the Blind, an organization which pairs people with trained dogs, has a training facility in San Rafael, California. A pair of instructors walked on the sidewalk with O’Neil, a Labrador Retriever, when the dog noticed something coming from behind them.

You can see O’Neil turn his head at 4 seconds in this security camera video. Trainer Todd Jurek notices, looks back to see the looming danger and immediately pushes Danielle Alvarado and O’Neil around a corner and out of harm’s way.

The occupant of the car was a 93 year old woman who apparently lost control. May I suggest you look into Marin Transit’s travel training for seniors program?

  1. I don’t get your title – the trainer pushed the handler, and it doesn’t appear that the dog initiated anything.

It’s hard to say the driver lost control. Did she ever have it?
