Guadalupe River Trail ribbon cutting April 20.

Trail Ribbon Cutting

The city of San Jose and the Santa Clara Valley Water District have completed paving the final 6.4 miles of the Guadalupe River Trail from SJC to Alviso, so you can now bike a very nice 11 miles from downtown San Jose to the Bay. The ribbon cutting ceremony takes place Saturday, April 20 2013 on the trail at the airplane compass area immediately north of I-880.

Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, SCVWD Board Member Tony Estremera, Santa Clara County Supervisors Ken Yeager and Dave Cortese, and San Jose Councilmembers Sam Liccardo and Kansen Chu will be there. I won’t be there because this conflicts with the Sea Otter Festival in Monterey, which is too bad.

The Guadalupe River Park Conservancy says to park on Ruff Drive between Hedding and I-880. VTA 61 and 62 buses stop at Ruff on Hedding, and of course the 1st Street Civic Center VTA light rail station is just a couple of blocks away from the trailhead at Hedding Street. Here’s a shocking suggestion: you can also ride your bike to this location on this increasingly popular trail.

There’s also Facebook event page for this. That’s my shadow you see in the photo.
