Santa Cruz bike trail panel discussion canceled due to campus strike

A panel discussion on “Forest Trails Talk: A Speaker Panel on Upper Campus Mountain Biking” scheduled this evening on the UC Santa Cruz campus has been canceled due to the University of California strike.

Campus road entrances are blocked by pickets. Several people planned to bypass the roads to enter the UCSC campus via upper campus trails on their bikes, but event planners decided to postpone the panel discussion.

Santa Cruz Metro service onto the campus has been re-routed; campus shuttle buses are not operating.

Service employees affiliated with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) are striking throughout the University of California system to protest what they say are intimidation tactics by university officials during contract negotiations.
