Top talent featured at Santa Cruz Mountain Bike Festival

Get tips and coaching from the pros at the Santa Cruz Mountain Bike Festival later this month.

The Santa Cruz Mountain Bike Festival, presented by Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz (MBoSC) and FOX, announced a list of professional riders to be involved in this year’s 4th annual festival. The festival will take place April 13-14, 2013 (the weekend before the Sea Otter Classic in nearby Monterey) at the Barry Swenson Builder property (Aptos Pump Track and Post Office Jumps) in Aptos, CA from 9am-7pm Saturday and 9am-4pm Sunday.

    Kat Sweet brings her popular Sugar Showdown Skills Clinic for ladies to Santa Cruz for this year’s festival. Sweet is a former professional downhill mountain bike racer, and X-Games ski competitor, featured in Bike Magazine, decline magazine, Freehub, Momentum, NW Cyclist, and Dirt Rag magazine. Kat brings her unique brand of passion and coaching to Sweetlines and Sugar Showdown, with a team of top IMIC-certified coaches including Gale Dahlager, Tammy Donahugh, Cortney Knudson and Lisa Tharp involved with this year’s event

  • Lindsay Beth Currier and Kyle Jameson will coach the mountain bike skills clinic. Lindsay is founder of Shine Riders Co., former professional high speed downhill racer, and coaches her own Shine Skills Clinics as well as classes for Sweetlines and the Trek Dirt Series. Kyle has been competing in jump jams for over 6 years. He also teaches mountain bike camps and is heavily involved in building bike parks for local communities.
  • Kirt and Lindsey Voreis coach Enduro Skills Clinic. Kirt is a 1996 top American World Cup Downhill and Dual Slalom Racer and all around leader in the mountain bike industry sponsored by the top factory teams. He is creator of AllRide, and teaches all disciplines of mountain biking. Lindsey — a former Survivor cast member — has been a professional mountain bike racer for over 15 years and promotes her love for riding by teaching clinics.

  • Andrew Shandro — two time World Cup winner in Downhill MTB, four time Canadian National Champion in Downhill MTB, and X-Games Gold Medalist in Bikercross — will host the Amateur Jump Contest. Dirt jumping pros Cam McCaul and Ryan “R-Dog” Howard will judge this event.

The Santa Cruz Mountain Bike Festival takes place the weekend of April 13 & 14, 2013 in Aptos, CA.
