VTA free rides on New Year’s Eve

VTA, which operates bus and light rail transit for the Santa Clara County, California (aka the “South Bay”), will offer free service on all light rail and bus lines from 8 p.m. December 31 to 5 a.m. January 1.

For Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, VTA will operate on a regular weekday schedule and will operate on a holiday / weekend schedule for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. An exception will be extra service during the New Year for light rail and the 181 Express Bus. Check VTA New Year’s Eve schedule for more information.

Santa Cruz Metro Holiday Schedule

Santa Cruz Metro local buses will operate on a weekday schedule on Christmas Eve until 8 PM, after which local service ends until the day after Christmas. Local buses will run on a weekday schedule all day for New Year’s Eve, with no service on New Year’s Day.

Highway 17 Express bus operates on a weekday schedule on Christmas Eve and News Year’s Eve, and a Holiday / weekend schedule for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
