Dutch app rewards phone-free cycling

The Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment partnered with Internet and phone companies to create the Fiets Modus app to encourage people to stay off of their phones while they bike.

Dutch app to discourage phone use while cycling

In lieu of fines, the Dutch government agency hopes this app encourages cyclists to watch for road dangers by offering movie tickets, t-shirts and one of 30 Veloretti bicycles. Users turn the app on when they hop on the bike and earn points by keeping their sweaty fingers off of their mobile device until they reach their destination.

Something like this would be wonderful for car drivers in the USA.
