Old San Jose Road: Passing cyclist on blind turn = crash

This set of dispatches came in via the California Highway Patrol on Wednesday morning for a traffic collision on Old San Jose Road in Santa Cruz County, California.

There’s a little confusion at first about an injured cyclist, but it seems like the cyclist witnessed the crash. The image above shows Old San Jose Road in the vicinity of the reported crash. I’ll guess the driver who ran passed the cyclist through a blind turn. An oncoming car slammed on the brakes, and the following vehicle rear-ended.

I know this road and this kind of stupidity of people who can’t wait to pass until it’s safe happens all the time. Too bad about the damaged cars, but I’m glad the cyclist is okay.
