San Jose: Lower Guadalupe River trail detours next week

The Santa Clara Valley Water District will close portions of the Guadalupe River Trail from February 18 to February 21, 2014 to remove non-native vegetation.

The east side of the trail will be closed between 8:30 AM and 3 PM on Tuesday, February 18 between the Green Island Bridge and Trimble Road. This means commuters will need to find a detour to get past Highway 101. If you’re comfortable with heavy traffic merging to and from Highway 101, feel free to jog around Ewert Road around the north end of the airport to access Trimble, then bike over 101 on Trimble. In the map, I show the Guadalupe River Trail in dark green, the closed part of the trail in red, and a couple of suggested detours in teal if you prefer to avoid traffic conflicts (yeah, I know).

Guadalupe River Trail closure and detour

Work continues on the 19th through the 21st, so watch for detour and closure signs on those days.

The San Jose Bike Train will continue as scheduled for the morning of Wednesday, February 19. We’ve moved the start time to 8 AM from San Jose Diridon Station. Otherwise, all of the other details remain the same. Feel free to join us if you think you need help getting past possible trail closures.
