Silicon Valley Bicycle Summit TOMORROW

I’ll be at the Silicon Valley Bicycle Summit at the Microsoft campus in Mountain View, California on Thursday, August 11, 2016.

Silicon Valley Bike Summit

Registration for the event is still open and costs only $35.

Both Caltrain and VTA get you to within easy biking distance of the venue, which is located directly on the Stevens Creek Trail immediately north of Highway 101.

The wonk quotient seems higher than previous years. Kate White from Caltrans will speak on the the state’s efforts to bring a little equity to transportation planning in California. We’ll hear updates on new laws and regulations regarding protected bikeways, CEQA rules, highway design changes, Vision Zero efforts, and a how-to on pop-up bike infrastructure projects.

The BikePool ride from Mountain View Caltrain to the venue at Microsoft SVC is a great meet-and-greet with several people involved with bike planning and bike advocacy in the South Bay. I haven’t decided yet if I’ll join the BikePool, or ride the VTA 522 bus, or maybe even bike from San Jose.

I appreciate Microsoft’s generous sponsorship of this event.
