Each, the San Francisco Bay Area Metropolitan Transportation Commission selects a bike commuter of the year from each of the nine counties in the Bay Area. For San Francisco County, the winner is your friend and mine, John Murphy.
Murph’s the real deal with his multimodal Caltrain + bike commute from his Noe Valley home to his job in Santa Clara three days a week. The other two days, he bikes the entire distance with the SF2G crew, and he still finds time for the occasional lunch ride or detour in the evening through Portola Valley. When he’s not riding or taking care of his newborn, he shows up at meetings up and down the Peninsula and in the City promoting bikes and transit for transportation.
You can read the other cool bike commuter stories at the MTC Bike to Work Day website. Remember, Bike to Work Day 2010 is on Thursday, May 13.
go Murph!
