2011 Amgen Tour of California organizers released some details of Stage 1 today, which will take racers outside of California for the first time in race history.

Stage 1 will begin at South Lake Tahoe and go west and north. As the racers circle the lake they’ll cross into Nevada, and eventually pass directly in front of Murph’s Tahoe vacation rental house on Kingsbury Grade before riding through Stateline and back into California.

After a second trip up the western shore of Lake Tahoe, the race makes a left turn at Kings Beach on the north shore for a 7.5 mile run to the finish at Northstar. It should be a breathtakingly beautiful race.
