Torker Interurban 24

Torker introduced the Interurban 24, a new, low cost hybrid road bicycle for children at Sea Otter Classic 2011 in Monterey.

Interurban 24 is meant to be a miniaturized version of Torker’s Interuban road bike for adults. The $569 adult Interurban is a CroMo steel 16 speed drop bar road-style bicycle designed for city commuter use. Torker created the Interurban 24 so the child can come along on rides with a matching bike.

Torker started with the alloy Conquest 24 CX frame from their sister brand at Redline, replaced the ERTO 520 tires with the more available and less expensive ERTO 540 tire size. Moving from drop bars to flat bars also takes substantially from the cost. The result is a good child size city bicycle for well under $400 retail. You can even mount fenders or racks to this bike.

  1. So cool!! We have always had to modify bicycles for the kids to use so they don’t have to have junk to get around. Too bad it is coming at the end of the kid line for us, but for those who are buying a bike for the first of several kids, this is great!

  3. A kids version of a commuter bike? Is this for “take your kid to work day?” The market for such a bike is confused.
