Google Maps announced the inclusion of live transit updates showing the predicted arrival of subway trains for New York City MTA, and buses and trams in Salt Lake City.

Transit with live departure times are shown with a pulsing gray dot next to the predicted arrival time.

Google Maps also announced live service alerts for Washington DC Metrorail.

Google Maps inaugurated Live Transit updates in 2011 for San Francisco; Portland, OR; San Diego; Madrid; and Turin. Several other transit agencies have since made real time departure information available via the GTFS-Realtime transit data specification.
