2010 AToC Stage 5

2010 Amgen Tour of California Stage 5 Visalia to Bakersfield.

Spoilers below!

20 year old Peter “Terminator” Sagan of Liquigas-Doimo crosses the finish line in Bakersfield. I hope they found an Italian translator for him at the press conference in Bakersfield 🙂

Sagan is known as “Terminator” because he really tears up his Cannondale mountain bikes (which he also races on). Just a few months ago, Sagan was thinking about quitting road cycling altogether, but he was convinced to give it one last shot when he signed with Liquigas. He won two stages of Paris-Nice last March, and took a stage of the Tour of Romandie this year as well. Today’s win in the Tour of California marks his fourth win as a pro this year.

I wasn’t in Bakersfield today but Ken Conley was. “What a day,” he says about today’s stage.

Ken was also there when Lance Armstrong crashed out.

Tomorrow: Stage 6 – Palmdale to Big Bear Lake.
