Washington start for Giro: Closer to reality?

Various reports indicate the Giro d’Italia is expected to announce a USA start in Washington DC for the 2012 edition of the classic Italian road race.

A 2012 Giro d’Italia Working Group in the United States has been working with Giro officials to bring the race start to D.C. A presentation and announcement may come tomorrow in DC. A prologue in Washington and even a possible stage that ends on Pennsylvania Avenue would set the stage before the race moves to Italian soil.
