Bees and a bike

Jana Kinsman in Chicago started Project “Bike-a-Bee,” in which she’ll use her bike and trailer to maintain urban apiaries and harvest the honey.

Jana is funding this through Kickstarter. She’s about a third of the way toward her $7000 goal she needs for the equipment.

GRID Chicago published an in-depth article on Jana’s plans, though I’ll warn you the puns get pretty awful in the intro.

I’ve kicked $25 to back Jana’s neat, worthwhile project. She’s also been involved in another successful Kickstarter project, Chicago’s Thought You Knew Us cyclist pinup calendar, where she did the graphic design.

  1. I was going to put a hive box in my back yard in the spring. Been planting buckwheat everywhere I go just for the bees. Have to rig up a seed distributor to my cycle and fling wild flower seed as I ride building apiary habitat!
