The last time I mentioned Erika Christiansen on these pages, she was riding a Giant Avail road bike. Today, she rides a Cervelo R3.
It’s a pretty hot bike with an MSRP that starts above $3200. Several pros have won Paris-Roubaix riding the R3: Johan Vansummeren in 2011, Fabian Cancellara in 2010, and Stuart O’Grady in 2007.
Erika Christiansen was interviewed in Velo’s “Ultimate Ride Guide” for 2012, in which she talks about how she got into cycling, her bike commutes to the set of “Parenthood,” and her desire to compete in cyclocross races in a year or two. How cool is that?
I don’t think this issue of the Ride Guide is online; you’ll have to buy it a paper copy at the bike shop.
It’s nice to see celebrities and public figures be advocates for the sport of cycling. I think it helps broaden the public’s view of the sport. That said, the article is running in “Velo” magazine, so I’m not sure how many non-cyclists are actually going to see it.
