The Tour de France begins this Saturday, July 5 in Yorkshire, England, so for today’s reading while riding the bus this morning I looked at stages past.
VeloPress describes this book as “a ‘dream team’ of the best Tour de France stages in modern history,” but author Richard Moore’s gift lies in exposing the personalities behind those stages. He covers 20 different stages and their winners from various Tours covering the 1970s to 2012. You’ll see the familiar big names but plenty of obscure cyclists with their own, lesser known stories as well.

The mountain stages are always my favorite stages of the tour because they always look unbelievably tough, and they separate the true champions from the rest.
