V. Ramesh’s Bicycle Share Program near Mumbai has launched with 35 inaugural members using his FreMo bike share in Thane. Ramesh says he saw Barcelona’s bike share program and compared it to India, where “I saw a lot of people waiting at the bus stop, spending a lot of money on the rickshaw, and traffic jams.” He started working on his FreMo concept and opened for business recently.
See this wonderfully positive story on CNN-IBN about India’s first bike share.
The local advertisement for FreMo bike share is also kind of fun to watch.
Great idea — can't be much slower than those moto-rickshaws are, and it would surely help the air to have a few less of those on the road.
