Excitement is palpable at 2010 NAHBs

Snowstorm in the Northeast notwithstanding, the Shimano North American Handmade Bicycle Show is off to a strong start. Doors opened 10am for the public and eager cycling enthusiasts quickly began exploring the 110+ booths.

My somewhat selfish special interest is lifestyle bikes: commuter, grocery-getter, urban bikes. Let me tell you, there are an impressive number of frame builders in attendance with “bike life” bikes on display or back home at their shops.

Over today and tomorrow I hope to interview many of the 24 or so builders on my short list. Stay tuned for updates and photos, mainly by my Cyclelicious colleague Ed Ip.

For now I am going to turn my attention to the pulled pork, mac & cheese and steamed broccolli served up in front of me by the good folks at Comfort (200 W. Broad St. at Jefferson St.) Yummy!
