3 MPH speed limit on a Newport Beach, California bike path connecting Back Bay Dr to the
Pacific Coast Highway.
Google Maps link. Thank you to Willie Hunt of Orange County who provided this photo and writes, “Don’t walk too fast or, God forbid, run on this path!”
Huh. Wonder if any of the folks responsible have actually *tried* to ride a bike at 3 MPH. That is no small feat in itself…
Clearly written by someone that has never ridden a bike. 3mph is pretty difficult to ride at without looking drunk. Looks like there might be enough room to peel of the 3 and make it a 30 though. 😀
And foul weather is really just an opinion considering people ride in all weather and survive just fine.
Do they ticket people for sauntering instead of strolling?
I was hoping it would say “minimum speed limit,” which would tend to make clear that the path is for bicycling rather than, say, ambling.
This path will make the “slow bike” movement very happy.
I didn't know that radar guns would register a speed that low…
Ha Ha, good point!
At 3mph, I would be part of the cross traffic – very cross traffic
Ha ha 🙂
How many people actually pay attention to signs like this?
When we notice, it's only to stop and laugh.
