California bike clubs at risk of losing non-profit status

Several months ago, the US Internal Revenue Service published a list of small organizations at risk of losing their non-profit status.

Most non-profits must file annually with the IRS in order to maintain their non-profit status. Loss of exempt status means an organization must file income tax returns and pay income tax, and its contributors will not be able to deduct their donations. If an organization does not file as required for three consecutive years, the law provides that it automatically loses its tax-exempt status.

Don’t steal violins, Bro


DATELINE: Santa Cruz, California.

Thursday night, violin reported stolen in Westside Santa Cruz.
Friday morning, Punk rides bicycle to Mission Street music shop to pawn off stolen goods.
Music shop employee calls police.
Cops come to arrest Punk.
While cop interviews suspects, Hooligan steals Punk's bike parked outside of music shop.
Punk now in juvenile detention with another suspect.
Violin returned to owner.
Stolen bike not recovered.

Acoustic Bicycle Tour

Jazz Cornetist Taylor Ho Bynum begins his Acoustic Bicycle Tour on September 10. This two-week, carbon-neutral concert tour of New England celebrates both the interconnectedness of the region’s creative arts communities and alternative ways of thinking about our world. The tour will feature stops in all six New England states at venues ranging from music clubs to colleges to art galleries to outdoor spaces such as state parks and a farmer’s market.
