Schlumpf Innovations — the German Swiss outfit that sells that über-cool 2 speed “Speed Drive” crank — announced an “Advanced Belt Drive System” last week at Eurobike. This modular system fits onto the rear hub to simplify conversion of a bike design to a belt drive system, especially when used in conjunction with Schlumpf’s geared cranks.

Good morning.
I used to live in Boulder County, Colorado and often biked up the roads in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains near the Fourmile Canyon fire. During an earlier wildfire, a colleague talked me into joining him for a lunch ride. We were a good 20 miles away from the flames, but I still choked on the smoke blanketing the Front Range across Boulder and Weld Counties that day.
I probably damaged my lungs that day. Biking through thick smoke is a really bad idea.
