Sean Berkey rides his bike to work in Anchorage Alaska. Last Tuesday, Sean rounds a turn and comes up on a mama grizzly bear with her cub. In spite of the noise he makes precisely to avoid surprising bears, mama bear is surprised and reacts like surprised mama grizzlies are supposed to react: She mauls the cyclist.
Here’s the part of the story that amazes me about this 45 year old pharmacist. “ He then got up and rode to his job at the Alaska Native Medical Center.”
Those Alaskans are tough hombres. And I whine when somebody honks his horn at me.
