Canada Day

Happy Canada Day – FĂȘte du Canada. On July 1, 1867, the British Parliament created the nation of Canada out of its North American colonies through the British North America Act of 1867.

The Canadian Dorel Industries is a giant in the United States bike industry. Dorel owns several familiar American brand names that are sold at both independent bike dealers and discount retail stores: Cannondale, Schwinn, GT, Mongoose, Iron Horse, SUGOI, Pacific, RoadMaster, and InStep.

Other Canadian bike and accessory brands include Kona, Rocky Mountain, Cervelo, Louis Garneau, Night Hawk and Race Face. Norco isn’t as well known in the United States, but they have a few US dealers.

The UCI Continental Team SpiderTech is Canada’s only professional road cycling team.

Two Canadians will start this weekend in the Tour de France: Ryder Hesjedal of Victoria riding for Garmin-Transitions in his third Tour de France race; and Michael Barry of Toronto will make his debut riding the Tour for Team Sky.
