Swobo Bicycles for 2010

Swobo had some bikes and gear at Sea Otter 2010 that will be available at your local bike shop Real Soon Now.

First is a step through version of the aluminum frame Baxter, with Shimano Alfine 8 speed hub, 700C wheels, swoopy handlebars, cable routing through the inside of the top tube, and a chainguard.

The butted CroMo Fillmore features the Shimano Nexus 8 speed hub, chainguard, rack and fender eyelets, and an integrated seatpost tail light. Planet Bike fenders are optional.

Swobo Heywood is a butted aluminum frame single speed commuter / urban bike, similar to the Swobo Folsom. Unlike the Folsom with it’s rear coaster brake, the Heywood features disc brakes for improved stopping power and control and an integrated seatpost tail light. Other features are 26 x 1.95″ tires, rack and fender mounts. The spoke cards are extra.

Finally, Swobo redesigned their wool jersey to reinforce the pocket stitching. Their former design had a problem with the pockets stretching out and ripping holes at the stitches. Swobo says this should be fixed now.

Wow, both of my $100 Swobo jerseys did that pocket ripping thing, both after a month of use. It was totally lame. As such I simply cannot justify another Swobo product.

I love the look of the Swobo bikes. Someone parks theirs next to me and I like to look at it. I like how they have disc brakes on most of their bikes.

Good news to know they have strengthened the stitching on the Wool Jerseys. I burned through one in the second week of a three month tour, sewed it up twice to rip twice more. The other last a couple months before the holes began to reveal themselves.

These new bikes don't seem to be up on the Swobo site yet. Was there any pricing information (on the Fillmore in particular)?

    I don't have pricing; sorry.
