Tallbikes and the law

Apparently a good time was had by all last night when the Los Angeles police joined LA Critical Mass.

Like my experience with Bike Party, the cops only intervened for the most egregiously unlawful behavior — property damage and the like — instead of cracking down on equipment violations. I think this police officer, for example, was in violation of CVC 21201(c), which is the law that makes tallbikes illegal in California.

Alex Thompson of Bikeside LA gives a first hand report of the LAPD + LACM love in in his excellent article (with very nice photos). Damien Newton of Streetsblog LA was there as well and reports, “ One officer even laughed that he was having so much fun that he might do this every Friday.”

It's nice to see police officers having fun with a community.

But I still hate Apple for that stupid, tall video resolution.
