  1. The tailgating was bad enough. It seems like they started to make a reasonable lane change, but then went psycho and decided smash the cyclist instead. Hard to imagine why they thought that would ever result in something positive. Frankly I’m surprised after doing that, that the bus driver actually stopped instead of just moving along for a SMIDSY.

  2. Did you watch the same video I did? It looked to me the cyclist was intentionally keeping himself in front of the bus (which was unrightly tailgaiting him) When the bus moves to get around him, the cyclists goes into a sprint, to try and stay ahead, trying to prove his point. Then the driver does the unthinkable and turns right into the cyclists, which isĀ abhorrent.

This looks to me like a lot of road rage cases: both parties were being stupid and over-aggressive, and them one party took it over board, and now everyone is filled with regret.

  3. It looked to me like the cyclist shifted from the center of the lane to the right of it to “claim the lane.” Seems like the bus driver expected to pass the cyclist without fully changing lanes and reacted with anger. “Claim the lane” is an oft-advocated safety strategy, but unless you are at least close to matching traffic speed, I think it just pisses off the auto drivers. Unfortunately, driving the shoulder is risky, too.
