Happy Bay Area Bike Week! Free coffee on Wednesday for those who join up on San Jose Bike Train.
Remember, San Jose Bike Train runs this Wednesday morning, May 7, 2014 at 8 AM from San Jose Diridon Station this week. Yes, this is on the day before Bike to Work Day for the San Francisco Bay Area. Stay tuned for information on a special Bike to Work Day Bike Train.
Bike Train is a regularly scheduled bike commute with a ride leader (the “conductor”) and a regular route that, optimally, connects to other transportation services. San Jose Bike Train is scheduled for the first and third Wednesday of every month beginning at 8 AM from Diridon Station, a major transit hub for the San Jose. We connect with riders arriving on Caltrain 208, 210 and 312, and we will wait for those trains if the incoming train is late.
The route travels north (towards the Bay) on the Guadalupe River Trail for an almost completely road-free commute experience. San Jose Bike Train serves destinations along the Guadalupe Parkway / First Street corridor, including the County Buildings on Hedding Street, San Jose International Airport, and the “North First” office parks on and near Technology Drive, Trimble Road, Montague Expressway, River Oaks, and Tasman Drive, where Bike Train intersects with VTA light rail.
We strive to welcome riders of all abilities, from absolute newcomers to the avid cyclist who likes the social pace of the ride. Fitness apparel, fancy helmets and fast bikes are completely optional for San Jose Bike Train, and we travel at a comfortable 10 to 12 MPH pace. As your ride leader, I typically wear casual office apparel for my commute.
Bike to Work Day Bike Train
The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) has scheduled an additional VTA Bike Train for this route on Thursday, May 8, 2014 for Bike To Work Day. Their ride begins with a 7 AM meet and greet, with wheels rolling at 7:20 from the VTA Customer Service Center at 55 West Santa Clara Street in downtown San Jose, CA, located between 1st and Market.
More Bike To Work Day Rides
I’m sure we can count on another epic round of participation on the SF2G ride, in which riders commute from San Francisco down the San Francisco Peninsula to the South Bay.
