I ran across this crazily thick and heavy book the other day: 1001 Bicycles to Dream of Riding.
This hefty, 960 page book weighs in at nearly five pounds — more than many high end bike frames — and is chock full of descriptions and illustrations of what the publisher says are the world’s most influential and high-profile models from every discipline. Edited by UK industry veteran Guy Kesteven, the sample I saw looks promising and seems authoritative. I flipped through this copy and saw a little bit of everything — early Victorian inventions, 1970s BMX bikes, steel road racing and track bikes, to modern day mountain bikes. This book contains quite an eclectic collection of bicycling history.
