Old Santa Cruz Highway construction next week

Caltrans District 4 and Santa Clara County Roads issued a traffic advisory last week for a portion of Old Santa Cruz Highway (“OSC”). Road crews will have one-way lane closures with flaggers on OSC beginning Monday, October 12, 2015 during the week from 8 AM to 4 PM. Construction location is somewhere between about Holy City Road and Idyllwild.

OSC is the cycling route between Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Valley. Anyone passing this way during the week please watch for flaggers as you zoom down the hill at 40 MPH.


OLD SANTA CRUZ HWY AND SR17 SLOPE AND DRAINAGE REPAIR PROJECT.  / Santa Clara County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin a project to repair drainage and stabilize gully down slope separating State Route 17 at post mile 1.6 and Old Santa Cruz Highway just north of Redwood Estates starting Monday, 10/5. This project will not require lane closures on SR-17; however, Caltrans will require one-way traffic control with flaggers on Old Santa Cruz Highway for portions of this project. CMS signs will also be utilized to provide motorists advanced warning for those approaching the project area. Motorists can expect delays on Old Santa Cruz Highway during one- way traffic control. Work will be conducted during the weekday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The project is expected to be completed in November 2015, weather permitting. / Please note: There will be no closures or one-way traffic control during the week of 10/5 to 10/9. One-way traffic control is expected to begin on Monday, 10/12.
